On my way to Japan

Hello everyone, I decided to reuse the blog from my India trip since so many people enjoyed following along. I am writing this first post on day 2/3. I don't know if I've crossed the international date line yet. The trip started off not so great, but that's just Atlanta airport for you. I had planned on a 6 pm flight from Atlanta to Los Angeles that had plenty of availability up to the night before. Then Friday morning it went to hell in a handbasket. All flights to LAX suddenly were oversold. Sitting in the airport I rebooked myself on a flight connecting through salt lake city that looked possible, but when it came down to boarding time I missed it by two seats. So I started to get desperate, I did not want to start my trip off with a missed first day. I went to customer service, which non revs aren't supposed to do and asked for advice. Luckily the guy behind the counter had run into the same problem a few weeks prior and recommended flying into Santa Ana airport which is Orange county, just an hours drive from LAX. I made the flight, but my bag had been put on the connecting flight to LAX. When I got to Orange county I grabbed an Uber up to LA, which cost $10 less than the flight there, but at least I made it to the west coast. I made it to my hotel and at that point exhausted I reluctantly ordered an overpriced hamburger and coke from room service. Saturday morning I got to the airport and got out on the first flight to Honolulu without a hitch. I took a very expensive taxi ride to my hotel in Waikiki Beach, and went on a walk. I had not eaten yet and had heard a recommendations about a hole in the wall Hawaiian restaurant favored by the locals that was about a mile from the hotel. Ono Hawaiian restaurant. It was a perfect. After that I decided to walk the along the beach, unfortunately it was pretty cloudy, but warm. It was in the low 80's all day. For dinner I found a very small Japanese restaurant, I got a spicy tuna rice bowl to go and ate it in my room before passing out. This morning I was hoping to explore a little more but it started pouring just before sunrise. So after a relaxed breakfast at the hotel I headed back to the airport for yet another flight. Luckily Delta puts non revs in front of the upgrade list for international flights so I got a first class seat for this longest leg of the trip. I'm currently 7 hours down and 2 to go until I land in Osaka. I will have plenty more to post once I get to Japan.
